Everything revolves around the people you know – and the good gin you drink.
In a relaxed atmosphere after a long workday, collaborations are often born – the kind that can change businesses, but also careers. Conversations that start completely spontaneously can open doors to exciting projects, inspiration, or even new friendships. Because in business, as in life, it all comes down to the right people and good energy.

At the attractive location of Business Club 5, on the 14th floor of Zagreb’s Sky Tower, another successful IBMC – International Business Meetup Club – was held last week, bringing together business professionals from various industries and parts of the world.

The evening’s sponsors were Arete Puro gin and Plata do vrata. Delicious cocktails were once again crafted by mixologist Ozana Domić, brand ambassador for Arete Puro and owner of Croatia’s only cocktail catering company (New Order), while musician Helena Novosel took care of the musical atmosphere, delighting everyone present.

This time, Ozana prepared two liquid classics: Tom Collins and Gimlet, which further lifted the mood and helped ease the “tense” business topics among the many guests.

Tom Collins is a legendary cocktail in which Arete Puro gin blended naturally and perfectly, accompanied by fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup, and soda water. The history of its name has several versions. Some claim it existed as early as 1869, while others believe its original name was John or Jim Collins, after an old song. The most interesting story linked to this cocktail dates to 1874, when a “fun hoax” spread across New York and Pennsylvania involving a man named Tom Collins who was said to be spreading false gossip. To join in the joke, you’d ask someone if they knew Tom Collins. When they replied “no,” you’d tell them Tom was at a certain bar spreading lies – prompting them to go there and ask the bartender for Tom Collins. Instead of meeting a person, the bartender would serve them the cocktail – an ingenious marketing trick. Today, luckily, you don’t need a trick to order this refreshing classic, especially good with Arete Puro gin, which impressed the guests.

Gimlet is another timeless cocktail that takes on a whole new dimension with Arete Puro gin – fresh, balanced, and refined in flavor, with the addition of freshly squeezed lime juice and sugar syrup. This cocktail was made famous by British sailors in the 19th century, when the vitamin C from citrus fruits played a key role in maintaining health during long voyages. Once a kind of medical remedy, the Gimlet eventually became a true classic, immortalized in the legendary Savoy Cocktail Book from 1930.

“It was amazing, the girls loved the space, the cocktails, and the vibe,” “Thanks for the invite – unforgettable as always,” “This was the best event yet” – were just some of the social media comments the next day.

And us? We can’t wait for the next collaboration and party!
